Egyptian Retreat on a Nile River Cruise

Egypt is one of those places that calls to you.
For me, I kept seeing news articles and social posts on interesting Egyptian archeological facts and discoveries. Then I’d see an advertisement for the King Tut tour in museums. Or a billboard using Egyptian imagery. I’d be at a street fair, and products would catch my eye containing the Egyptian eye, scarab, or ankh. Each time it felt like an outside force drawing my attention and focus. Of all the things to notice, I noticed these.
In November of 2024, I answered the call. And it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. (If you haven’t read my previous blog on it, you can find it here.) I knew then that I’d be back.
As 2025 began, I started receiving nudges to come back. This time, to bring others so that they can experience the magnitude, magnificence, and sacredness of the ancient tombs and temples.
For example, I noticed that the receptionist at my hair salon wore a giant ankh necklace. I complimented her on it, and she told me she was born in Egypt.

I went scuba diving in Cancun, Mexico a few weeks ago, and our dive boat was named Horus (after the Egyptian god) and had the Egyptian eye painted on the side. (This is very unusual for Mexico. I have never seen anything Egyptian there before.)
And a whole host of other winks that gave me affirmation goose-bumps across my body. They felt like a whisper of “it’s time to return.” And so, this is my elated announcement that I’ll be hosting an Egyptian Activation Retreat in October!!! It's an Egyptian Retreat with a Nile River Cruise to visit the temples and tombs from Luxor to Aswan and Abu Simbel.
Since my last trip, many friends have reached out asking me if it’s safe to travel in Egypt. Never once did I feel unsafe. I felt fully supported and secure, especially with the people guiding our experience. They’ve since become like family.
First, I’ll share that my aunt Jeri travels there about four or five times a year. Most of those are solo trips. She wouldn’t do that if she didn’t feel completely safe and in good hands with Mohamed, Ramadan, and Mahmoud.
Mohamed is my main point of contact that I’ve been organizing my Egyptian Activation Retreat with. He helped gather the costs of entry to the excursion sites, meals, the luxury Dahabiya cruise ship, our private Egyptologist (Mahmoud), and our private driver (Ramadan). He’s a very sweet, thoughtful individual.
Every week since coming home from Egypt in November, either he or his brother (Ramadan) have reached out to say hello, ask how we’ve been, check in on us when they heard about the fires in Los Angeles, wished us well on holidays (such as Christmas & Easter), and overall have made us feel like valued members of their extended family.
When we were there last, Jeri and I were looking for scarabs to bring home as souvenirs for friends and family. We weren’t able to find what we wanted for the price we wanted at the shops. Mohamed wasn’t even present for that experience, but had heard about this through Ramadan. That night at the hotel, he brought us 20 scarabs of varying sizes and colors because he didn’t know what we were looking for and offered all of them to us. Free. This is the kind of person he is.
Ramadan is equally compassionate and thoughtful. He’s a safe driver who is alert and attentive. Even when you don’t think he’s listening, he’ll overhear our conversations in the back and accommodate every desire.
We were once commenting amongst ourselves that it had been a while since we last ate and were getting hungry. Within minutes, he pulled the van over at a grocery store and said, “I’ll be right back.” He returned shortly with bags of every flavor of chips that are sold in Egypt, plus pitas filled with meat, and fresh cooked bread. It was way more food than we could have eaten in one sitting, but he wanted to make sure there was something to satiate everyone’s palate before our next planned meal.
Mahmoud was (and will be at the October retreat) our expert Egyptologist. His knowledge of ancient history, rituals, and mythology is superb. Plus, he’s hilarious. We joked, laughed, and had a wonderful time learning about everything to do with the temples and tombs we visited. And he’s a spiritual guy who does not harbor any religious judgment. We had deep conversations about energy, our souls, reincarnation, worldwide religions, and the mystical things he’s witnessed in his years as a tour guide.
I feel completely confident in working with them again to host my Egyptian Activation Retreat in October. We’re greatly looking forward to making the experience unforgettable, inspirational, and deeply transformational for every person who comes on the retreat.
